Pennant Fever

One of my fave Sports Illustrated covers was Fergie Jenkins. He was Canada's favorite player from Chatham, Ontario. Fergie was Chicago Cubs fans favorite too.

Fergie won the Cy Young in 1971 making history for Canadian sports fans with a 24-13 record.

He started 39 games that year, 30 of them were complete games which is unheard of these days. He was also a great hitter with 6 homers and a .478 slugging percentage and a .243 average.
